Formula.........123

Basal metabolic rate (BMR)
  • Amount of energy expended while at rest in a neutrally temperate environment, in the post absorptive state (meaning that the digestive system is inactive, which requires about twelve hours of fasting in humans).
  • Decreases with age and with the loss of lean body mass.
  • Increased muscle mass can increase BMR
*For men (kCal) = 66 + (13.7 x weight) + (5 x height) - (6.8 x age)
*For women (kCal) = 655 + (9.6 x weight) + (1.8 x height) - (4.7 x age)
Resting Metabolic Rate (RMR)
*For men (kCal) = (10 x weight) + (6.25 x height) - (5 x age) + 5
*For women (kCal) = (10 x weight) + (6.25 x height) - (5 x age) - 161
